London, February 1st 2022 – Algebris Investments is pleased to announce the appointment of Sebastiano Pirro as Chief Investment Officer at Group level with effect from 1st February 2022. In his new role, Sebastiano will lead the investment team and focus on the evolution of the firm’s investment process across the range of liquid strategies. Sebastiano will maintain his responsibilities as portfolio manager of Algebris Financial Credit and Algebris IG Financial Credit. He will continue to report to Davide Serra, Founder and CEO.
Sebastiano joined Algebris in 2012 after a first professional experience at JP Morgan. Over the last nine years, he has contributed significantly to establishing Algebris as a leading asset manager with a specialist focus on global financials. He has been co-portfolio manager of Algebris Financial Credit since its inception in 2012. Sebastiano is supported by a team of four experienced financial credit specialists sitting in the firm’s London and Boston offices, in addition to the wider team of investment professionals across global credit and equities.
Davide Serra will step down as Group CIO with immediate effect, to focus more closely on his CEO responsibilities and foster growth across strategies, geographies, and business functions. Davide will continue to provide guidance to Sebastiano and the investment team as required.
