Davide Serra
Founder & CEO
Davide is the Founder and CEO of Algebris Investments, a global investment manager with a historical focus on the financial sector across the capital structure. Founded in 2006, Algebris has gradually expanded its expertise and entered the global credit, Italian equity and green transition space to capture a broader set of value opportunities.
Davide, a dual Italian and British citizen, is recognised as one of the world’s leading experts on financial services and is often consulted by the world’s central bankers and regulators on policy matters. He has been awarded the Commendatore designation, a decoration of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
Davide is Chairman and Trustee of the Hakuna Matata foundation, a registered UK charity which he founded with his wife, focused on assisting orphaned children in central Tanzania. Davide is a graduate cum laude of Bocconi University in Milan, Italy and holds a Master CEMS. He played volleyball professionally in Italy from 1985 until 1990 and reached Series A1, and is a keen alpinist.

Sebastiano Pirro
CIO & Financial Credit Portfolio Manager
Sebastiano joined Algebris in 2012 as an investment analyst. He was instrumental in the launch the financial credit strategies and throughout the years, has helped to establish Algebris’ position as leading specialist in the asset class with a solid track record.
Sebastiano is currently Chief Investment Officer, Head of Financial Credit strategies, as well as Portfolio Manager for the Algebris Financial Credit Fund and the Algebris IG Financial Credit Fund, which he has managed since inception.
Sebastiano holds an MSc magna cum laude in Mechanical Engineering from Padua University, Italy.
Sebastiano was a professional Alpine Ski athlete, ranking within top 150 athletes globally in Giant Slalom and participating in the European Cup circuit. He lives in London with his wife and three children.

Alberto Mari
Equity Portfolio Manager
Alberto joined Algebris in 2022 to strengthen our coverage of the Italian equity market.
Previously, he spent seven years at Credit Suisse Asset Management in Milan as an Analyst and Portfolio Manager. At CS he worked in the institutional investor team where his primary responsibility was on the Equity Italy fund, within the team he also covered global equities as analyst and co-portfolio manager. He was member of local investment committee.
Prior to Algebris, Alberto worked in Zurich in the European Equity Mid Cap team, where he was an analyst for Long/Short and market neutral strategies.
Alberto holds a master’s degree magna cum laude in Management Engineering from Polytechnic University of Milan, where he specialized in corporate finance and is a CFA charter holder.
Alberto lives in Milan. His passion is running, sailing and windsurfing.

Alessandro Mancini
Trader
Alessandro joined Algebris in 2018 as an Analyst and is now a Trader.
Prior to Algebris and since 2013, he worked at QW Capital LLP, a London-based independent asset manager where he helped developing proprietary algorithms and a quant equity market neutral strategy based on mean reversion.
He holds a MSc in Finance and Investment from CASS Business School in London. Originally from Rome, he holds a degree in Business Administration from University of Rome (where he majored in Economics and Finance) and put his finance and accounting skills at the service of local charities.
In his free time he enjoys playing football and travelling.

Antonio Focella
Equity Analyst
Antonio joined Algebris in 2019 as a Research Analyst, focusing on macro analysis, predictive analytics, and monetary policy research. He moved to the investment team in 2021 as an Equity Analyst.
Prior to joining Algebris he was a trainee at the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs at the European Commission.
Antonio holds a BSc and MSc in Economics from Bocconi University and is a CFA charter holder. In his free time he enjoys running and is passionate about history.

Elisa Natali
Equity Analyst
Elisa is an Equity Analyst who joined Algebris in 2020, with a focus on Italian and then European Equities
Elisa holds a Master’s degree cum laude from the Faculty of Banking & Finance of the Catholic University of Milan and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Bergamo. She attended a Summer School programme at the London School of Economics, where she studied Business Analysis and Valuation.
Elisa loves travelling and is passionate about singing, swimming and Formula 1.

Benjie Creelan Sandford
Financial Equity Analyst
Benjie joined the Algebris Financial Equity Team in 2023 as an analyst covering Global (ex US) Financial Institutions with a focus on European Banks.
Prior to joining Algebris, Benjie was a sellside banks analyst for 15 years, most recently spending 7 years at Jefferies, covering Southern European Banks (having previously worked at Nomura and Macquarie in similar roles and having begun his career at Fox-Pitt Kelton in 2008).
Benjie graduated from the University of Bristol with a degree in Law with European Studies (LLB) in 2007.
Benjie lives with his wife in London and outside of work enjoys fishing, cooking, hiking & tennis.

Bruno Duarte
Financial Credit Portfolio Manager
Bruno joined Algebris in 2019 as a portfolio manager, focusing on financial credit.
He began his career as a European Banks Equity Research analyst at Schroders Salomon Smith Barney (1998-2004) before moving to Fox-Pitt Kelton, a specialist equity boutique broker focused on the financial sector (2004-2006). In order to complement his equity experience, Bruno decided to join Barclays Capital in 2006; his role involved covering European financials on the bank’s credit trading desk over a period which spanned the global financial crisis.
Bruno moved to the buy side in 2012 with Claren Road Asset Management, a US-based hedge fund owned by the Carlyle Group, where he was a Managing Director focused across the entire capital structure of European financials. Prior to joining Algebris, in 2016 Bruno took on the role of portfolio manager at Copper Street Capital, a start-up dedicated global financials fund which won EuroHedge’s Event Driven category in 2017.
Bruno holds a MSc in International Securities and Investment Banking from the ISMA Centre (1998), a BA Hons (First Class) in Economics and Business from the University of Stirling (1997), as well as being a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Craig Carlozzi
Global Credit Portfolio Manager
Craig joined Algebris in 2023 as Co-Portfolio Manager in the Global Credit team. He focuses on corporate credit.
Craig served as the director of Alternatives at Longfellow Investment Management Co as well as the portfolio manager for LIM’s Credit Opportunities Strategy and co-portfolio manager for LIM’s Multi-Strat Strategy. Prior to joining Longfellow Investment Management in 2019, Craig founded BulwarkBay Investment Group, LLC, a firm managing a credit opportunities strategy.
Prior to BulwarkBay, Craig was a partner at MAST Capital Management and an analyst at Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s Global Corporate Investment Bank.
He has been a CFA Charter Holder since 2003. He graduated with Honors from Miami University with a bachelor’s degree in finance.

Federica Negri
Equity Analyst
Federica joined Algebris in 2021 and is currently an Analyst in the Italian equity team.
She has a Master’s degree in Economic and Social Sciences at Bocconi University in Milan, where she previously completed a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance.
Federica has always been athletic, playing basketball for many years and competitive figure skating. She enjoys traveling and is passionate about painting and music.

Gabriele Foà
Global Credit Portfolio Manager
Gabriele Foà is a Portfolio Manager in the Global Credit Team.
In his position, he co-manages the Global Credit Opportunities Fund and is lead PM for the Strategic Credit Fund. He is responsible for the macro research publications of the firm, such as the Algebris Bullet and the Global Credit Bullets.
Gabriele joined Algebris in 2019. Previously, he spent four years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in London as a macro and emerging markets strategist.
Gabriele holds a Ph.D in Economics from Yale University, where he specialized in macroeconomics and finance. While in the US, he held positions within the Global EM Strategy team at BAML and at Roubini Global Economics, both in New York.
He graduated from Bocconi University in 2009. Gabriele lives in Milan with his wife, son and daughters. His all-time passion is football.

Gabriele Parenti
Italian Equity Analyst
Gabriele is analyst with a focus on Italian Equity. He joined Algebris in 2019.
Gabriele holds a BSc in Business Administration and a Master in Banking & Finance from Università Cattolica di Milano.
Gabriele played golf at competitive level for many years, attending several National competitions. He is also a very passionate guitar player, holding a Music certification from the Trinity College of London.

Giancarlo Bollero
Senior Analyst
Giancarlo joined Algebris in 2014 as an analyst. He is currently supporting the credit investment team from the Milan office.
Prior to joining Algebris Giancarlo worked in the equity research team for Deutsche Bank in Milan.
Giancarlo holds an MSc in Finance from Bocconi University, Milan. An Italian native, he also speaks fluent English. Outside of work Giancarlo is a keen off-piste skier and enjoys sailing and climbing.

Ginevra Bargiacchi
Analyst
Ginevra is from a small city near Rome named Tolfa. She moved to Milan in 2016 to attend Bocconi University where she completed a BA in Economics and Finance (CLEF). She also completed a MSc in Finance at Bocconi, graduating in December 2021.
Ginevra joined Algebris as an intern in July 2020 and has remained in the firm since then.
She is passionate about music, from classic to electronic one, and just says that Music gives her the right pace and rhythm.
She spent 6 years studing music and learning to play the tansverse flute which she still enjoys playing in her spare time.

Jacopo Fioravanti
Global Credit Analyst
Jacopo joined the Global Credit Opportunities Fund as an analyst in October 2018. Jacopo supports the team’s bottom-up analysis and portfolio allocation across US and European high yield.
In 2022, Jacopo completed his Masters in Finance at Imperial College Business School in London. Prior to joining Algebris Jacopo gained work experience at UniCredit and the London Stock Exchange Group. He holds a BSc in Economics and Finance from the University of Exeter.
Jacopo is passionate about motorsports and travelling. In his free time, he also enjoys playing football and tennis.

James Friedman
Lead Portfolio Manager, Global Credit
James is a Portfolio Manager for the Global Credit Opportunities Fund at Algebris. He joined Algebris in 2008 and was key to the launch of the company’s Financial Credit strategies. James has significant experience in both the credit and high yield markets and spent the last two years working at a specialist credit asset manager in Boston before returning to Algebris at the beginning of 2022.
Prior to joining Algebris in 2008, James worked at Wellington Management as a Research Associate and High Yield Analyst. James started his career at Investors Bank and Trust.
James is a CFA charter holder. He holds a master’s degree in Investment Management from Boston University and graduated from Dartmouth College with a bachelor’s degree in International Relations.
He lives in the Boston area with his wife and two sons.

Lennart Lengeling
Macro Analyst
Lennart is an investment analyst in the Global Credit Opportunities team, with a focus on G10 Rates/FX. He joined Algebris as a risk analyst in 2018 and moved to the investment team in 2020.
Lennart completed his BSc in Business Administration and Economics at Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and his MSc in Finance with a major in Quantitative Finance at Bocconi University in Milan. Prior to joining Algebris, Lennart gained working experience at Eurex, Commerzbank, Allianz and Goldman Sachs. Lennart is a CFA charter holder since August 2022.
Born in Germany, Lennart spent part of his childhood in the UK and Saudi Arabia and is passionate about travelling and exploring new cultures. Furthermore, he enjoys playing basketball.

Kevin Kielbasa
Equity Analyst
Kevin joined the Algebris Financial Equity team in 2022 as an analyst covering US financial institutions with a focus on banks and financial technology companies.
Prior to joining Algebris, Kevin was most recently with Narmi Inc., a financial technology firm serving US banks and credit unions. Previously, he was senior equity analyst at Castine Capital Management, a Boston-based investment firm dedicated to the financial services sector, where he covered banks and other financials for over thirteen years. He began his career at BrownCo, a brokerage division of JPMorgan Chase.
Kevin graduated Magna Cum Laude from the College of the Holy Cross with a BA in History and is also a CFA Charterholder. He currently resides in Boston with his wife and three daughters.

Lawrence Evans
Trader
Lawrence joined Algebris in October 2020 as a trader.
He previously worked at Man Group, where he spent the first eight years of his career, the last two of which as a trader focused on credit and convertibles.
Lawrence holds a BSc 1st class in Biology from Imperial College London and is a CFA charter holder.
In his spare time he enjoys the gym, chess and yoga.

Lee He
Data Scientist
Lee joined Algebris in 2020 as a Data Scientist on the AI and Big Data team. In this role, he collaborates with various investment, risk, and ESG teams to develop data engineering, machine learning / AI, and data visualisation solutions. Example projects include building AI models to quantify the hawkishness of central banks and creating credit relative value analytical dashboards.
Prior to this, Lee served as the Machine Learning Lead at Pand.ai, where he conducted applied research in the Natural Language Processing (NLP) domain. He also has experience as an Investment Analyst at EDBI covering AI start-ups.
Lee holds a Master of Science in Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) and a Bachelor of Computing from the National University of Singapore (NUS), both of which he completed concurrently through an accelerated Concurrent Degree Programme (CDP). He was awarded the NUS Undergraduate Scholarship and holds three professional IT certifications: Microsoft MCSA (SQL Server 2012), SAP TERP10, and ITIL v3 Foundation. In his personal time, Lee enjoys music and graphic design, and is an avid supporter of Liverpool F.C. He is also a pianist, holding a Diploma in Piano Performance from ABRSM.

Raymond Tam
Financials Analyst
Raymond joined Algebris in January 2022 to strengthen the coverage of insurers within the financial credit team.
He was previously a senior credit analyst at CreditSights, a London-based independent research company where he covered European and Asia-Pacific insurers for over seven years. Before that he was at Barclays Capital within the Structured Capital Markets group and started his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, auditing insurers at the Lloyd’s of London.
Raymond graduated from the University of Manchester with a BA Hons (First Class) in Economics and is both a Chartered Financial Analyst and an ICAEW Chartered Accountant.

Luca Mori
Portfolio Manager
Luca joined Algebris in 2017 to develop our expertise in the Italian equity market.
Prior to this, he was CIO of Zenit SGR where he also directly managed funds focused on Italian stocks.
Before 2008, he covered the role of Equity Fund Manager for both Capitalia Asset Management and Fondicri SGR, with lead responsibility for investments in the Italian equity market. He started his career in the Finance department of Banca Popolare di Sondrio.
Luca graduated com Laude in Economics and Business Administration University of Rome La Sapienza, Italy. He lives in Rome with his wife and daughter. He loves skiing, sailing, mountain biking and has a passion for motorbikes.

Mark Conrad
Financial Equity Portfolio Manager
Mark joined Algebris at the initiation of the firm in 2006.
Mark is responsible for managing Algebris’ global financial equity portfolios and our balanced financial credit / equity strategy. He also covers North America and Latin America for the Financials team.
Prior to joining Algebris, Mark worked at Wellington Management in Boston (2000-2006) where he was responsible for research on global life insurance and international bank equities.
Mark is a CFA charter holder and holds a BA, magna cum laude, in History and Political Science from Williams College. He is a member of the board of trustees and chair of the Finance Committee at Kingswood-Oxford School in Connecticut.
Mark lived for seven years in London with his wife, Kim, and is now a dual US/UK citizen. They moved back to the US in 2013 and launched the Boston office for Algebris shortly thereafter. Mark and Kim have two children, Caroline and Andrew.

Niccolo Merlatti
Trader
Niccolo is a Trader who joined Algebris in 2023.
Prior to joining Algebris as a Junior Trader, Niccolo worked on the Sales and Trading floor at Morgan Stanley, covering Foreign Exchange.
Niccolo completed his bachelor’s degree in Business, majoring in Banking and Finance at Monash University in Australia. He then continued with a FinTech Postgraduate course at Monash University.
In his free time, he enjoys hiking and playing basketball.

Rodolfo Passeri
Equity Analyst
Rodolfo joined Algebris in 2023 and is a Junior Analyst in the Italian Equity Team.
Prior to joining Algebris, Rodolfo worked in Barclays’ Investment Banking division in London, focusing on UK M&A coverage.
Rodolfo holds a BSc in Economics and Finance, major in Finance at Bocconi University, during which he spent six months studying at Michigan Ross School of Business, and he’s currently finalizing the Master’s degree in International Management – CEMS at Bocconi University.
Passionate about football, sailing and skiing, he has been a competitive swimmer for 15 years.

Richard Watt
Head Trader
Rich joined Algebris in 2015 as a trader.
He previously worked for JPMorgan in the global credit markets division, most recently in emerging markets credit and prior to that in securitised products. He worked in both London and New York having joined the company on the global markets graduate program.
Rich is a keen sportsman, he played rugby 7s at a high level, and has played on 6 continents. He continues to play club rugby in London. He also enjoys playing polo in the summer and skiing in the winter.

Samuel Sibony
Global Credit Portfolio Manager
Samuel joined Algebris in 2022 as Co-Portfolio Manager in the Algebris Global Credit team.
Samuel joins from DC Advisory, where he was a senior member of the London-based restructuring team, covering deals in the UK and the Continent. Prior to DC Advisors, he was a senior analyst at Attestor Capital, a London-based distressed hedge fund.
Samuel spent eight years at Chris Hohn’s Children’s Investment Fund between 2011 and 2019, where he managed corporate debt investments on a global scale. He started his investment career at Barclays Capital.

Vincent Faradji
Global Credit Analyst
Vincent joined Algebris in 2023 as an investment analyst for our global credit strategies. He holds a BSc and MSc in Finance from Bocconi University.
Vincent is a Lieutenant in the reserve of the Austrian Armed Forces where he previously spent one year as part of a reserve officer training program.
An Austrian national, he speaks German, English and Italian fluently.
In his spare time, he enjoys skiing, wakeboarding, football and tennis.

Simone Ragazzi
Global Equity Portfolio Manager
Simone joined Algebris in 2019.
Prior to this, he spent 5 years in Amundi as senior equity analyst on long-only pan-European Small Caps strategies with particular focus on Italian, German and Nordics markets as well as on long/short product. Previously, Simone spent over 10 years as sell side equity analyst in MainFirst, UBI, UBS and Cheuvreux.
Simone graduated in Business Administration at Bocconi University in Milan. An Italian native, he also speaks English and Polish.
Since high school, Simone has been volunteering in different projects in Benin and Ethiopia. He is a blood donor since 2004.
He lives in Milan with his wife and son. He is a proud soccer referee and he loves playing tennis, swimming, reading and rock&roll music.

Valerio Camerano
Managing Director, Algebris Green Transition Fund
Valerio Camerano is Managing Director at Algebris Investments, where he leads the Business Unit dedicated to the energy and environment transition and is overseeing the launch of a private equity fund dedicated to the green transition. Working alongside the investment teams at Algebris Investments, he is currently focusing on the Italian market, with a view to expanding the investment offering and scope in the future.
Valerio has gained major experience in the infrastructure, energy and environmentally-focused industries during his career. From 2014 to 2020, he was CEO of A2A Group, one of the prominent players in the Italian utilities and renewable energy industries. Before that, he held similar roles for over 10 years at Engie, Enel and Camuzzi and worked 10 years in the financial sector for Citibank.
He is also an independent member of the COIMA ESG City Impact Fund Steering Committee, Business Angel for Start Up and Professor at Luiss University in Rome.
Valerio graduated cum laude in Economics, Financial Engineering and Corporate Finance, at LUISS University in Rome. He attended an Executive Program at INSEAD. He is a passionate photographer, loves jazz, enjoys trekking and wines.

Alessandro Santo
Investment Manager
Alessandro joined Algebris in 2023 to reinforce the private equity strategy.
He started his investing career in 2008 leading seed and growth equity investments and advising some of the largest PE funds on digital investments; some of the companies he has been involved with are Iubenda, Stamplay, British Car Auction, OverIT and Backbase. Before starting investing, Alessandro has worked for Bain & Company and Equita SIM.
Alessandro graduated in Finance from Bocconi University, holds an MBA from Columbia Business School, and is a Kauffman Fellow.

Emanuele Tomasi
Investment Manager
Emanuele joined Algebris in 2022 to support the green transition private equity strategy.
Prior to joining Algebris, Emanuele has been a member of the investment teams of Italian and pan-European private equity funds since 2011. In particular, Emanuele worked with Ambienta, a pioneer company in investment strategies focusing on environmental macro trends, Palladio Holding and Argos Wityu.
Emanuele graduated from Bocconi University with a Master of Science in Finance in 2012, and he completed the INSEAD’s International Directors Programme in 2021. Emanuele is a sailing and art enthusiast.

Francesco Becchelli
Investment Director
Francesco joined Algebris in 2021 to support the expansion of the firm into real assets in the energy sector.
Previously, Francesco was Head of M&A, Business Development and Innovation of A2A, a FTSE MIB-listed utility.
Between 2013 and 2015 Francesco was CFO of Leone Film Group, a media company listed on the Italian AIM. Before this, Francesco spent 13 years at Credit Suisse and Lazard covering energy sector. He started his career in Ernst&Young in 1998.
Francesco graduated summa cum laude in Economics and Business Administration University of Verona and in 2013 attended the 134 class of Senior Executive Program at Columbia University. He lives in Milan with his wife and a son, is a keen cyclist and loves skiing.

Marco Turchini
Investment Director
Marco started working with Algebris in 2021 to support the Green Strategy from a technology standpoint.
Marco comes from more than 15 years of experience in innovation gained at first tier consulting firms, two entrepreneurial endeavors and corporate management positions. In last years Marco was Chief Innovation Officer at A2A group, Chief Executive Officer at A2A Smart City and served as senior advisor for a top EU Venture Capital firm with a focus on cleantech technologies.
Marco, a PhD in Supply Chain Management and a MSc in Industrial Engineering and Management, shares a deeply rooted passion for sailing and lives in Milan with his children Anna and Cosimo and his wife Eugenia.

Maria Sole Bozzi
Investment Associate
Maria Sole joined Algebris Investment Team in 2018. She obtained a First Class degree in Industrial Engineering from Politecnico di Milano, is a CFA charter holder.
In her free time she loves skiing and kite-surfing, she is also very passionate about golf and has attended several championships at national level.

Matteo Tarchi
Investment Director
Matteo joined Algebris in 2021 to support the expansion of the firm into real assets in the energy sector.
Previously, Matteo was CEO of A2A Rinnovabili, renewable generation subsidiary of A2A, a FTSE MIB-listed utility. Matteo spent 13 years at French CAC40 utility Engie, where he covered various positions among which CEO of GDFSUEZ Rinnovabili and head of strategy and business development of Engie Italia Spa. Previously he worked as project developer for Mirant Inc., a US based Independent Power Producer.
Matteo has MSc in energy engineering at Politecnico di Milano. He lives in Milan and has a daughter. He loves diving and running.

Elena Mancuso
NPL Associate
Elena joined Algebris in 2022 in the Private Debt Investment Team. She began her career in 2009 at a construction company, then moved to Covivio Group as Project Manager and later became Head of ReoCo at a servicer company. In 2020, she joined Algos as Head of RE Portfolio and Acquisitions.
She holds an Executive MBA and a Real Estate Finance Program from SDA Bocconi. Elena is a mentor in the SDA Bocconi Mentoring Program and a Senior Board member of the SDA Bocconi Women in Business Club.
In her free time, she co-founded a start-up, plays basketball, and enjoys sailing and water sports.

Antonella Di Chio
NPL Deputy Head
Antonella joined Algebris in 2014 with a focus on the analysis of non-performing loan investment opportunities in Italy.
Prior to joining Algebris, she worked at an Italian family office (Holding Italiana Quattordicesima), where she was covering alternative investment strategies.
Antonella holds an MSc in Finance cum laude from Bocconi University, Milan.
An Italian native, she also speaks fluent English. Antonella is part of Young Leaders Community of the Council for the United States and Italy. In 2019 she was awarded as Young Investment Woman of the Year in the context of the Women In Investment Awards 2019 Italy organised by Investment Europe.
She has been a professional dancer for 15 years.

Gianluca Sciacovelli
NPL Deputy Head
Gianluca joined the Algebris NPL team in 2016. He focuses on Non-Performing Loans, Unlikely-to-Pay loans and Distressed Real Estate investments. His responsibilities include the origination and execution of new investments as well as the management of existing Funds.
Earlier in his career, he spent two years working in the credit sales department at Deutsche Bank in London, focusing on asset-backed products.
Gianluca holds a Master of Science in Finance cum laude from Bocconi University in Milan. He played basketball for 11 years winning a youth championship. He also enjoys skiing and cooking.

Guido Santi
NPL Vice President
Guido joined Algebris in 2016 within the NPL Fund, where he focuses on deal origination, underwriting, and managing financial models.
Before joining Algebris, Guido gained experience at KPMG Advisory, contributing to financial consulting projects early in his career. He graduated cum laude from Bocconi University with a Master’s in Finance and is a CFA charterholder.
A passionate cook and avid skier, Guido also has a long-standing love for basketball—though these days, the court has been swapped for a couch and a TV remote.

Jacopo Tamos
NPL Vice President
Jacopo joined Algebris in 2017.
Previously, he worked at JP Morgan Investment Bank within the Credit department in London with a focus on corporate clients predominantly from Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Iberia.
Jacopo holds a Master of Science in Management cum Laude from Bocconi University and a Master in Banking and Finance from St. Gallen University.
Jacopo was a professional Alpine-Ski athlete, participating in the Regional Cup. He holds the Ski instructor license. He is a CFA charterholder.

Riccardo Peria
Green Transition Strategy Associate
Riccardo joined the Algebris Investments team in 2021 to support the expansion of the firm into private equity investments dedicated to the green transition.
Previously, Riccardo was an Analyst in Argos Wityu, a pan-European private equity firm focused on mid-market majority LBOs. Before that, he gained experience in London in the field of M&A and Derivatives, and he graduated with distinction from ESCP Europe Master in Management.
In the Green Transition Fund, Riccardo and the team aim to act as a springboard to help companies grow to their hidden potential and pave the way toward a more sustainable society. This is what fuels Riccardo’s passion.
In his free time, he enjoys discovering natural beauties and trekking with friends.

Stefano Sostero
Investment Director
Stefano joined Algebris in 2023 and he is part of the investment team of Algebris Green Transition Fund.
Stefano was Partner at Hope Sicaf and previously co-head of Muzinich & Co Italian team. Among other roles, he was Director and Member of the Board of Directors of Credit Agricole Private Equity and previously spent 9 years at CVC Capital Partners focused on investing in the Italian market and on cross-border European deals.
He began his career as an analyst at Interbanca. Stefano earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Bocconi University.
Stefano lives in Milan with his wife and two daughters. He loves travelling, cinema and mountain and enjoys running.

Riccardo Abate
Private Equity Analyst
Riccardo joined Algebris in 2022 as a private equity analyst within the Green Transition Fund, where he contributes to the analysis and execution of investment opportunities and the monitoring of portfolio companies.
Previously, Riccardo worked in Investment Banking at Jefferies, based in London.
He holds an MSc in Finance from the National University of Singapore and a BSc in International Economics and Finance from Bocconi University.
Riccardo is a former fencing athlete, a three-time Italian national champion, and has represented the national team in numerous international competitions.

Stefano Ferrari
Investment Manager
Stefano brings over 12 years of expertise in corporate finance and private equity to Algebris. From 2014, he worked in the asset management division of Generali where he launched and managed an Article 9 impact fund focused on VC investments in cleantech scale-ups across Europe. He deployed over € 200 mn and served on the boards of several portfolio companies. Earlier in his career, Stefano worked at Deloitte Consulting advising clients in the financial services industry.
He holds a master’s degree in Atomic Physics, awarded cum laude by the University of Milan, and an MBA from SDA Bocconi.
Stefano is a sommelier, a competitive player of ultimate frisbee and loves hiking through the Alps.

Tommaso Capra
Private Equity Analyst
Tommaso is a Private Equity analyst.
He joined Algebris in 2023 as intern in the NPL investment team, before joining the Green Transition Fund.
He completed the BSc in Management at ESCP Business School, and he is currently finalizing the Master’s degree in Finance at Bocconi University.
In his spare time, he enjoys playing and watching all kinds of sports, but has a particular passion for football and tennis.

Silvia Merler
Head of ESG & Policy Research
Silvia Merler joined Algebris as a research associate in 2019.
She is Head of ESG & Policy Research. Silvia has done extensive research on topics of European political economy, with attention to European macro and financial economics issues, as well as EU institutions and governance.
Before joining Algebris, Silvia served as Affiliate Fellow at Bruegel – Brussels economic policy think tank – and as economic analyst at the European Commission’s DG ECFIN.
Silvia holds a BA and MSc in Economics and Social Sciences from Bocconi University in Milan, and a PhD in European and Eurasian Studies with focus on European political economy at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). She has completed the CFA Certificate in ESG Investing, and two Responsible Investment courses offered by the UN PRI Academy.

Guglielmo Villani
Analyst
Guglielmo joined Algebris in 2024 as an ESG & sustainable finance analyst working closely with the equity and credit investment teams.
Prior to joining Algebris, Guglielmo gained work experience at Arwin&Partners on the execution of IR and ESG responsible investment projects. Recently, Guglielmo worked as outsourced consultant in the PMO department at ANIMA SGR managing ESG activities aligned with the Bank of Italy Action Plan on the integration of climate-related and environmental risks within ANIMA business operations and supervisory processes.
In 2019, during his Bachelor in Business & Administration, Guglielmo worked in Azimut Holding SpA as an intern. From 2017 to 2020, Guglielmo graduated in London and San Francesco at Hult International Business School where he impacted actively on the university community as representative board member of Society of Banking & Hult Finance Club.
Guglielmo completed his studies in Boston obtaining the M.Sc in Finance.
Guglielmo is passionate about motorsports and biking. In his free time, he also enjoys practicing calisthenics, swimming and tennis.

Iacopo Esposito
Analyst
Iacopo joined Algebris in 2023 working on green and sustainable equity investments and policy.
Having recently graduated from McGill University in Montreal with a BA in Environment, Energy, and Economics, he is passionate about the nexus between reconciling sustainable development and economic growth and focused his studies on this.
In his spare time Iacopo greatly enjoys biking, both in the city and in the mountains, as well as golfing, which he has been doing since he was 10.
Having lived in several countries, he speaks English, Italian, and French fluently.
