Alberto Mari

Italian Equity

Alberto joined Algebris in 2022 to strengthen our coverage of the Italian equity market.

Previously, he spent seven years at Credit Suisse Asset Management in Milan as an Analyst and Portfolio Manager. At CS he worked in the institutional investor team where his primary responsibility was on the Equity Italy fund, within the team he also covered global equities as analyst and co-portfolio manager. He was member of local investment committee.

Prior to Algebris, Alberto worked in Zurich in the European Equity Mid Cap team, where he was an analyst for Long/Short and market neutral strategies.

Alberto holds a master’s degree magna cum laude in Management Engineering from Polytechnic University of Milan, where he specialized in corporate finance and is a CFA charter holder.

Alberto lives in Milan. His passion is running, sailing and windsurfing.

Alessandro Mancini

Alessandro Mancini

Trader

Alessandro joined Algebris in 2018 as an Analyst and is now a Trader.

Prior to Algebris and since 2013, he worked at QW Capital LLP, a London-based independent asset manager where he helped developing proprietary algorithms and a quant equity market neutral strategy based on mean reversion.

He holds a MSc in Finance and Investment from CASS Business School in London. Originally from Rome, he holds a degree in Business Administration from University of Rome (where he majored in Economics and Finance) and put his finance and accounting skills at the service of local charities.

In his free time he enjoys playing football and travelling.

Antonio Focella

Sustainable Equity

Antonio joined Algebris in 2019 as a Research Analyst, focusing on macro analysis, predictive analytics, and monetary policy research. He moved to the investment team in 2021 as an Equity Analyst.

Prior to joining Algebris he was a trainee at the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs at the European Commission.

Antonio holds a BSc and MSc in Economics from Bocconi University and is a CFA charter holder. In his free time he enjoys running and is passionate about history.

Benjie Creelan Sandford

Financial Equity, Global

Benjie joined the Algebris Financial Equity Team in 2023 as an analyst covering Global (ex US) Financial Institutions with a focus on European Banks.
Prior to joining Algebris, Benjie was a sellside banks analyst for 15 years, most recently spending 7 years at Jefferies, covering Southern European Banks (having previously worked at Nomura and Macquarie in similar roles and having begun his career at Fox-Pitt Kelton in 2008).

Benjie graduated from the University of Bristol with a degree in Law with European Studies (LLB) in 2007.
Benjie lives with his wife in London and outside of work enjoys fishing, cooking, hiking & tennis.

Bruno Duarte

Bruno Duarte

Financial Credit, Global

Bruno joined Algebris in 2019 as a portfolio manager, focusing on financial credit.

He began his career as a European Banks Equity Research analyst at Schroders Salomon Smith Barney (1998-2004) before moving to Fox-Pitt Kelton, a specialist equity boutique broker focused on the financial sector (2004-2006). In order to complement his equity experience, Bruno decided to join Barclays Capital in 2006; his role involved covering European financials on the bank’s credit trading desk over a period which spanned the global financial crisis.

Bruno moved to the buy side in 2012 with Claren Road Asset Management, a US-based hedge fund owned by the Carlyle Group, where he was a Managing Director focused across the entire capital structure of European financials. Prior to joining Algebris, in 2016 Bruno took on the role of portfolio manager at Copper Street Capital, a start-up dedicated global financials fund which won EuroHedge’s Event Driven category in 2017.

Bruno holds a MSc in International Securities and Investment Banking from the ISMA Centre (1998), a BA Hons (First Class) in Economics and Business from the University of Stirling (1997), as well as being a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Craig Carlozzi

Global Credit

Craig joined Algebris in 2023 as Co-Portfolio Manager in the Global Credit team. He focuses on corporate credit.

Craig served as the director of Alternatives at Longfellow Investment Management Co as well as the portfolio manager for LIM’s Credit Opportunities Strategy and co-portfolio manager for LIM’s Multi-Strat Strategy. Prior to joining Longfellow Investment Management in 2019, Craig founded BulwarkBay Investment Group, LLC, a firm managing a credit opportunities strategy. Prior to BulwarkBay, Craig worked at MAST Capital Management and Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s Global Corporate Investment Bank.

He has been a CFA Charter Holder since 2003. He graduated with Honors from Miami University with a bachelor’s degree in finance.

Elisa Natali

European Equity

Elisa joined Algebris in 2020, first as intern and later as an Equity Analyst, with a focus on Italian and then European Equities.

Elisa holds a Master’s degree cum laude from the Faculty of Banking & Finance of the Catholic University of Milan and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Bergamo. She attended a Summer School programme at the London School of Economics, where she studied Business Analysis and Valuation.

Elisa loves travelling and is passionate about singing, swimming and Formula 1.

Federica Negri

Italian Equity

Federica joined Algebris in 2021 as an intern before becoming a Junior Analyst in the Italian equity team.

She is currently finalizing a Master’s degree in Economic and Social Sciences at Bocconi University in Milan, where she previously completed a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance.

Federica has always been athletic, playing basketball for many years and competitive figure skating. She enjoys traveling and is passionate about painting and music.

Gabriele Foà

Global Credit

Gabriele Foà is a Portfolio Manager in the Global Credit Team. 

In his position, he co-manages the Global Credit Opportunities Fund and is lead PM for the Sustainable Bond Fund. He is responsible for the macro research publications of the firm, such as the Algebris Bullet and the Global Credit Bullets.

Gabriele joined Algebris in 2019. Previously, he spent four years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in London as a macro and emerging markets strategist.

Gabriele holds a Ph.D in Economics from Yale University, where he specialized in macroeconomics and finance. While in the US, he held positions within the Global EM Strategy team at BAML and at Roubini Global Economics, both in New York.

He graduated from Bocconi University in 2009. Gabriele lives in Milan with his wife, son and two daughters. His all-time passion is football.

Gabriele Parenti

Italian Equity

Gabriele joined Algebris in 2019, first as intern and later as analyst, with a focus on Italian Equity.

Gabriele holds a BSc in Business Administration and a Master in Banking & Finance from Università Cattolica di Milano.

Gabriele played golf at competitive level for many years, attending several National competitions. He is also a very passionate guitar player, holding a Music certification from the Trinity College of London.

Giancarlo Bollero

Financial Credit, Global

Giancarlo joined Algebris in 2014 as an analyst. He is currently supporting the credit investment team from the London office.

Prior to joining Algebris Giancarlo worked in the equity research team for Deutsche Bank in Milan.

Giancarlo holds an MSc in Finance from Bocconi University, Milan. An Italian native, he also speaks fluent English. Outside of work Giancarlo is a keen off-piste skier and enjoys sailing and climbing.

Ginevra Bargiacchi

Analyst

Ginevra is from a small city near Rome named Tolfa. She moved to Milan in 2016 to attend Bocconi University where she completed a BA in Economics and Finance (CLEF). She also completed a MSc in Finance at Bocconi, graduating in December 2021.

Ginevra joined Algebris as an intern in July 2020 and has remained in the firm since then.

She is passionate about music, from classic to electronic one, and just says  that Music gives  her the right pace and rhythm.
She spent 6 years studing music and learning to play the tansverse flute which she still enjoys playing in her spare time.

Jacopo Fioravanti

Global Credit

Jacopo joined the Global Credit Opportunities Fund as an analyst in October 2018. Jacopo supports the team’s bottom-up analysis and portfolio allocation across US and European high yield.

In 2022, Jacopo completed his Masters in Finance at Imperial College Business School in London. Prior to joining Algebris Jacopo gained work experience at UniCredit and the London Stock Exchange Group. He holds a BSc in Economics and Finance from the University of Exeter.

Jacopo is passionate about motorsports and travelling. In his free time, he also enjoys playing football and tennis.

James Friedman

Global Credit, Global

James is a Portfolio Manager for the Global Credit Opportunities Fund at Algebris. He joined Algebris in 2008 and was key to the launch of the company’s Financial Credit strategies. James has significant experience in both the credit and high yield markets and spent the last two years working at a specialist credit asset manager in Boston before returning to Algebris at the beginning of 2022. 

Prior to joining Algebris in 2008, James worked at Wellington Management as a Research Associate and High Yield Analyst. James started his career at Investors Bank and Trust.

James is a CFA charter holder. He holds a master’s degree in Investment Management from Boston University and graduated from Dartmouth College with a bachelor’s degree in International Relations.

He lives in the Boston area with his wife and two sons.

Kevin Kielbasa

Financial Equity, Americas

Kevin joined the Algebris Financial Equity team in 2022 as an analyst covering US financial institutions with a focus on banks and financial technology companies. 

Prior to joining Algebris, Kevin was most recently with Narmi Inc., a financial technology firm serving US banks and credit unions.  Previously, he was senior equity analyst at Castine Capital Management, a Boston-based investment firm dedicated to the financial services sector, where he covered banks and other financials for over thirteen years.  He began his career at BrownCo, a brokerage division of JPMorgan Chase. 

Kevin graduated Magna Cum Laude from the College of the Holy Cross with a BA in History and is also a CFA Charterholder.  He currently resides in Boston with his wife and three daughters.

Lawrence Evans

Trader

Lawrence joined Algebris in October 2020 as a trader.

He previously worked at Man Group, where he spent the first eight years of his career, the last two of which as a trader focused on credit and convertibles.

Lawrence holds a BSc 1st class in Biology from Imperial College London and is a CFA charter holder.
In his spare time he enjoys the gym, chess and yoga.

Lee He

AI & Big Data

Lee joined Algebris in 2020 as a Data Scientist on the AI and Big Data research team.

He was previously a Machine Learning Lead at Pand.ai doing applied research work within the Natural Language Processing (NLP) domain. Before that, he was an Investment Analyst at EDBI covering the AI space.

Lee attained a MSc in Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) and a BSc in Computing from the National University of Singapore (NUS) at the same time under an accelerated Concurrent Degree Programme (CDP). He was a NUS Undergraduate Scholarship recipient and also holds 3 professional IT certifications: Microsoft MCSA (SQL Server 2012), SAP TERP10, and ITIL v3 Foundation.

Outside of work, he enjoys downtempo music, graphic design, and is a Liverpool F.C. fan. He also plays the piano and holds a Diploma in Piano Performance from ABRSM.

Lennart Lengeling

Global Credit

Lennart is an investment analyst in the Global Credit Opportunities team, with a focus on G10 Rates/FX. He joined Algebris as a risk analyst in 2018 and moved to the investment team in 2020.

Lennart completed his BSc in Business Administration and Economics at Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and his MSc in Finance with a major in Quantitative Finance at Bocconi University in Milan. Prior to joining Algebris, Lennart gained working experience at Eurex, Commerzbank, Allianz and Goldman Sachs. Lennart is a CFA charter holder since August 2022.

Born in Germany, Lennart spent part of his childhood in the UK and Saudi Arabia and is passionate about travelling and exploring new cultures. Furthermore, he enjoys playing basketball.

Luca Mori

Luca Mori

Italian Equity

Luca joined Algebris in 2017 to develop our expertise in the Italian equity market.

Prior to this, he was CIO of Zenit SGR where he also directly managed funds focused on Italian stocks.

Before 2008, he covered the role of Equity Fund Manager for both Capitalia Asset Management and Fondicri SGR, with lead responsibility for investments in the Italian equity market. He started his career in the Finance department of Banca Popolare di Sondrio.

Luca graduated com Laude in Economics and Business Administration University of Rome La Sapienza, Italy. He lives in Rome with his wife and daughter. He loves skiing, sailing, mountain biking and has a passion for motorbikes.

Mark Conrad

Mark Conrad

Financial Equity, Global

Mark joined Algebris at the initiation of the firm in 2006.

Mark is responsible for managing Algebris’ global financial equity portfolios and our balanced financial credit / equity strategy. He also covers North America and Latin America for the Financials team.

Prior to joining Algebris, Mark worked at Wellington Management in Boston (2000-2006) where he was responsible for research on global life insurance and international bank equities.

Mark is a CFA charter holder and holds a BA, magna cum laude, in History and Political Science from Williams College. He is a member of the board of trustees and chair of the Finance Committee at Kingswood-Oxford School in Connecticut.

Mark lived for seven years in London with his wife, Kim, and is now a dual US/UK citizen. They moved back to the US in 2013 and launched the Boston office for Algebris shortly thereafter. Mark and Kim have two children, Caroline and Andrew.

Niccolo Merlatti

Junior Trader

Niccolo joined Algebris in 2023 as Junior Trader.

Prior to joining Algebris as a Junior Trader, Niccolo worked on the Sales and Trading floor at Morgan Stanley, covering Foreign Exchange.

Niccolo completed his bachelor’s degree in Business, majoring in Banking and Finance at Monash University in Australia. He then continued with a FinTech Postgraduate course at Monash University.
In his free time, he enjoys hiking and playing basketball.

Raymond Tam

Financial Credit, Global

Raymond joined Algebris in January 2022 to strengthen the coverage of insurers within the financial credit team.

He was previously a senior credit analyst at CreditSights, a London-based independent research company where he covered European and Asia-Pacific insurers for over seven years. Before that he was at Barclays Capital within the Structured Capital Markets group and started his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, auditing insurers at the Lloyd’s of London.

Raymond graduated from the University of Manchester with a BA Hons (First Class) in Economics and is both a Chartered Financial Analyst and an ICAEW Chartered Accountant.

Rodolfo Passeri

Italian Equity

Rodolfo joined Algebris in 2023 as an intern in the Non-Performing Loans Team before becoming a Junior Analyst in the Italian Equity Team in 2024.

Prior to joining Algebris, Rodolfo worked in Barclays’ Investment Banking division in London, focusing on UK M&A coverage.

Rodolfo holds a BSc in Economics and Finance, major in Finance at Bocconi University, during which he spent six months studying at Michigan Ross School of Business, and he’s currently finalizing the Master’s degree in International Management – CEMS at Bocconi University.

Passionate about football, sailing and skiing, he has been a competitive swimmer for 15 years.

Richard Watt

Head Trader

Rich joined Algebris in 2015 as a trader.

He previously worked for JPMorgan in the global credit markets division, most recently in emerging markets credit and prior to that in securitised products. He worked in both London and New York having joined the company on the global markets graduate program.  

Rich is a keen sportsman, he played rugby 7s at a high level, and has played on 6 continents. He continues to play club rugby in London. He also enjoys playing polo in the summer and skiing in the winter.

Samuel Sibony

Global Credit

Samuel joined Algebris in 2022 as Co-Portfolio Manager in the Algebris Global Credit team.

Samuel joins from DC Advisory, where he was a senior member of the London-based restructuring team, covering deals in the UK and the Continent. Prior to DC Advisors, he was a senior analyst at Attestor Capital, a London-based distressed hedge fund.

Samuel spent eight years at Chris Hohn’s Children’s Investment Fund between 2011 and 2019, where he managed corporate debt investments on a global scale. He started his investment career at Barclays Capital.

Simon Ragazzi

Simone Ragazzi

Sustainable Equity

Simone joined Algebris in 2019.

Prior to this, he spent 5 years in Amundi as senior equity analyst on long-only pan-European Small Caps strategies with particular focus on Italian, German and Nordics markets as well as on long/short product. Previously, Simone spent over 10 years as sell side equity analyst in MainFirst, UBI, UBS and Cheuvreux.

Simone graduated in Business Administration at Bocconi University in Milan. An Italian native, he also speaks English and Polish.

Since high school, Simone has been volunteering in different projects in Benin and Ethiopia. He is a blood donor since 2004.

He lives in Milan with his wife and son. He is a proud soccer referee and he loves playing tennis, swimming, reading and rock&roll music.

Vincent Faradji

Global Credit

Vincent joined Algebris in 2023 as an investment analyst for our global credit strategies. He holds a BSc and MSc in Finance from Bocconi University.

Vincent is a Lieutenant in the reserve of the Austrian Armed Forces where he previously spent one year as part of a reserve officer training program.

An Austrian national, he speaks German, English and Italian fluently.
In his spare time, he enjoys skiing, wakeboarding, football and tennis.
