We are an independent global asset management firm embracing long-only strategies.
We began by investing in the global financial sector, covering the capital structure of financial institutions across both equity and credit. We have since broadened our expertise to global credit and Italian equity, offering a diversified and unconstrained strategy. With respect to private strategies, we invest in non-performing loans predominantly secured by high-end residential real estate assets in Italy and in companies involved in the European green transition.
Algebris maintains established relationships with a global base of institutional and private investors, encompassing insurance companies, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, corporations, private banks and family offices.
Founded by CEO Davide Serra in 2006, Algebris maintains offices in London, Milan, Rome, Zurich, Dublin, Boston, Singapore, and Tokyo.
Algebris (UK) Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Algebris Investments (US) Inc is a SEC registered Investment Adviser. Algebris Investments (Ireland) Limited is authorised and regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland and operates in Italy through its Milan branch. Algebris Investments (Asia) Pte. Ltd is a Licensed Fund Management Company with the MAS. Algebris Investments K.K. is licensed by Financial Services Agency.
Our History
2022
Algebris opens its Zurich office to serve clients based in the DACH region.
2020
Algebris opens its Dublin office. Algebris Investments (Ireland) Limited receives authorisation from Central Bank of Ireland to act as Management Company for the Algebris Group’s UCITS and AIF ranges.
2019
Algebris builds an in-house special servicer (Algos) for the Algebris NPL business with offices in Milan and Rome.
2018
Algebris opens its Tokyo office in order to focus distribution efforts in Japan.
2017
Algebris opens its Luxembourg office and launches an Italian Mid-Cap Securities strategy.
2016
Investment in talent continues across the Group – Algebris launches its global credit strategy further broadening its offerings from credit, equity and private debt.
2015
Algebris opens its first office in Italy in Milan to expand its investment discipline with a local footprint.
2014
Algebris launches its non-performing loan strategy focused on secured loans backed by real estate assets, whilst adopting a strict, strategic “cherry picking” approach.
2013
Algebris opens offices in both Boston and Singapore increasing the firm’s international presence.
2012
Algebris is recognised as a dominant player in subordinated debt.
2011
Algebris launches the Algebris UCITS Funds Plc which is a pivotal moment in the firm’s history and the beginning of a new chapter and strategic move into regulated fund structures.
2010
We host our first offsite, enabling investors to experience the company spirit first-hand and encouraging a frank, direct dialogue with our team.
2009
We establish ourselves as pioneers in financial hybrids, providing bank buffers against potential future losses in the wake of the financial crisis. Algebris becomes an industry member of the World Economic Forum and Davide Serra is named as a Young Global Leader.
2008
We continue to build a world-class investment team.
2007
The Algebris Global Financials Fund is short listed “Fund of the Year” at the EuroHedge Awards.
2006
Davide Serra, backed by Chris Hohn, launches Algebris Investments.
Davide, a former equity analyst from Morgan Stanley, specialising in banks and top-ranked in investors’ surveys, envisioned a firm built around his core expertise: global financials.
